Remote prosthetics: Impressions of transient proximities
Wihart’s project has been developed to reflect on human interaction with participatory architectural environments. It anticipates a future where alternative spatial realities are dynamically modulated by soft architectural machines, and where man’s intervention in the world transcends the dichotomy of biological versus technological and natural versus man-made.
In this world, the possibilities of exchange for delight and enjoyment between user and architecture take precedence over utilitarian use of space. In constructing reconfigurable prototypes that change over time, Wihart invents means for changing the physical as well as sensing the intangible.
This project is part of Michael Wihart’s doctoral research and is supported by Fletcher Priest Architects Trust.
